DAILY DEVOTION - 12 JANUARY 2020

Good morning. Peace be with you all. Rejoice in the Lord always. "I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations." Exodus 34:7 NLT. Insight Why does sins of the parents affect their children and grandchildren? This is no arbitrary punishment. Children still suffer for the sins of their parents. Consider child abuse or alcoholism, for example. While these sins are obvious, sins like selfishness, jealousy, hatred and greed can be passed along as well. Not to mention the commandments and non-believers. Challenge Be careful not to treat sin casually and as a normal way of life, but repent, ask for forgiveness and turn from it. The sin may cause you little pain now, but it could later sting in a most tender area of your life, your children and grandchildren. Turn to Jesus today, ask forgiveness, repent and be set free. It's the most unselfish act you can perform for your children and grandchildren sake. May God bless and protect you all. In Jesus mighty name. Amen.
